3 convenience stores at Kansai airport (upon arrival)
Do you want to know the convenience stores you can go to upon arrival at Kansai Airport?
From March 1, 2022, the Japanese government has eased entry restrictions from overseas. Because of that, now most travelers do not need to spend a self-isolation period at a hotel for quarantine.
However, there is still a lot of document work and PCR test procedure upon arrival at Kansai Airport. You could be tired out when you are finally released, and desperate for whatever drink or snack!
In this article, I will introduce information regarding convenience stores at Kansai International airport (terminal 1).
Convenience store at 1st floor
No.1:(mini) Lawson
Open hours: 6:30~22:00
URL:LAWSON Kansai International Airport 1st Floor
It is located in between the North arrival lobby and South arrival lobby, and this one is the closest convenience store from both arrival gates. However, this store is fairly small. It is more like a “mini-convenience store” and they sell only limited kinds of items.
If you need only basic food or drink, this one suits you. But if you would like to choose from more varieties of foods, drinks, or you would like to buy items other than drink and water, I recommend 2 convenience stores I will show below.
Convenience store at 2nd floor
There are 2 convenience stores on the 2nd floor at Kansai International airport terminal 1 building.
No.2: Lawson ( at Northside end)
Open hours: 24 hours
URL:LAWSON Kansai International Airport
There is a Lawson at the end of the North side on the 2nd floor. As you can see from the map below, this one is located at the North end of the hall. Therefore I recommend this one if your flight is arriving at the North wing. (Normally You will come out to the North arrival gate if arriving at the North wing).
This Lawson sells not only a wide variety of foods, drink, but also mobile batteries, stationary, instant foods, cosmetics, etc. I think you can buy anything that you need till you arrive at the hotel or your house.
How to get to Lawson at 2nd floor
First, come to the North arrival floor. Let’s start from there. You can go up to the 2nd floor either by escalator or elevator. (As of April 2022, the escalator is not in operation)
Once you arrive at the 2nd floor, turn left and go straight. You will find MacDonalds at the right hand side, and there is the Lawson at the back of the hall.
No.3: Family Mart( at Southside end)
Open hours: 24 hours
URL:Family Mart Kansai International Airport
There is a Family Mart on the 2nd floor. In contrast to Lawson, this Family Mart is located at the end of the South side on the 2nd floor.
The basic lineup is the same as Lawson. You can expect to buy any items that you can get from a convenience store in the city. The difference between Lawson and Family Mart is Family Mart sells Muji items (無印良品). If you are coming out to the South arrival hall, or you particularly need Muji items, I recommend this Family Mart to go.
How to get to Family Mart at 2nd floor
It is the same as Lawson. Take the elevator or escalator to the 2nd floor. Straight to the right direction and you will find the Family Mart after walking through the mobile battery charging spot.
(Not recommended) Convenience store at 4th floor
There is another Family Mart on the 4th floor. But the 4th floor is the departure floor and there is no point in going out of the way.
Summary
In summary, there are 4 convenience stores at Kansai International Airport(KIX) terminal 1. First of all I don’t recommend Family Mart on the 4th floor as it is the departure floor.
So, for those who arrive from overseas, there are 3 choices. One is a Lawson store on the 1st floor. I recommend this one If you need simple snacks or foods as this Lawson is mini size and they sell only limited varieties of items.
There are 2 convenience stores on the 2nd floor. Lawson is located at the North end and I recommend this for those who are arriving at North arrival hall. The other one is Family Mart, which is located at the South end of the 2nd floor. On the contrary to Lawson, I recommend this one if you are arriving at the South arrival hall.
Both convenient stores sell wide varieties of products such as foods, drinks, mobile batteries, stationary, instant foods, cosmetics, etc. Worthy of a special mention is that only Family Mart sells Muji products.
